​Before founding ExFed Tax, I served as a senior leader in the IRS, where I specialized in tax compliance, controversy, and enforcement. Over my career I built and led national strategies to shut down abusive tax schemes, guided policy on large corporate and specialty tax programs, and advised executives at every level—including the Commissioner—on emerging risks and solutions.

 

My work touched just about every corner of the tax world:

  • Leading the service-wide Employee Retention Credit compliance strategy (yes, the ERC circus).

  • Tackling abusive tax shelters, micro-captive insurance, shady wellness plans, green energy credit schemes, and promoter investigations.

  • Overseeing estate, gift, employment, excise, and Bank Secrecy Act compliance at a national level.

 

At ExFed Tax, my mission is simple: utilize ExFeds to turn insider expertise into clear, actionable guidance for individuals and businesses. We left the lion’s den so that you don’t have to live in it.

  • Provided second-level executive leadership for the areas of Exam Case & Field Policy, Exam Case Selection,  and Specialty Exam Policy, and Examination Quality and Technical Services. 

  • Executive leadership for Estate and Gift digitization and modernization efforts.

  • Directly lead the strategy for reduction in paper back-log for Estate & Gift returns.

  • Directed national policy for Estate & Gift, Employment, Excise, and Bank Secrecy Act compliance.

  • Partnered with foreign tax authorities on cross-border fraud prevention and implemented backlog reduction strategies.

  • Supported Compliance Assurance Process (CAP) and led initiatives that recovered nearly $1B in fraudulent solar credits.
